Appearance
- 20 - 45 mm long.
- Black/dark brown with distinctive white band on the side.
- Wingless.
- Very fast runner.
Lifecycle
- Females deposit the ootheca (egg case) containing 16 eggs a day after production.
- Ootheca are cemented down and widely scattered.
- Hatch in 1 - 2 months.
- Nymphs take 2 - 4 months to develop into adults.
Habits
- These cockroaches like to live in bark chips or timber.
- They sometime enter the house particularly in very wet weather or after gardening clean.
